By formal accreditation through the AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS), students will gain recognition for the soft skills they’ve developed such as:

  • Problem Solving
  • Teamwork
  • Team Building and Leadership
  • Research
  • Communication

Throughout the programmes, we invite representatives from companies to come in and give students an insight into their industry and their company specifically, and give them an understanding of their role and what skills they’ll need to gain a position within the company.

By sponsoring a school or schools, our programmes will benefit a company in the following way:

  • Use cutting-edge world of work programmes
  • Reach out to local students
  • Use programmes that can be tailored to meet the needs of your company
  • Create work-ready employees
  • Provide a cost-effective way to meet your recruitment needs (and remove all the administration and hassle in the process!)
  • Spark interest in the next generation

The Robotics Programme

Our 12-week robotics programme challenges young people to design and develop a robot to take over admin tasks in an office, for example meeting and greeting, using LEGO Mindstorm EV3s. They have to decide the requirements of the robot (e.g. it will need to be stable and probably wheel-based if it is to wander around an office all day), build the physical robot, and programme it to move about/pick stuff up/talk.

Students also have to develop marketing materials to promote their robot, including a simple website and promotional video, and we help them understand how introducing a robot to an office might impact current office staff and its environment, and business processes.

Students love seeing their creations come to life, while the programming element aligns to the computer science national curriculum, and can be adjusted depending on the age and ability of the students. The programmes also give students the opportunities to identify their interest and where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and how essential is it to collaborate and work as a team, much like working on a real life project!

Typically the robotics programme would suit companies or departments including associated with :

  • Marketing (including social media)
  • Engineering
  • Business Analysis/Development
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Software development

However, the programme can also be tailored to include other business functions, for example financial management, etc.
